Job Summary: A security guard plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of people, property, and assets within a designated area. As a security guard, your primary responsibility is to deter and prevent unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other illegal activities. You will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment by monitoring and patrolling the premises, enforcing security protocols, and responding appropriately to emergencies or security incidents.
Job Duties:
- Security Monitoring: Maintain a vigilant presence by continuously monitoring surveillance systems, alarm systems, and other security equipment to detect and respond to any suspicious activities or security breaches.
- Access Control: Control and monitor access to the premises, verifying the identification of individuals, checking credentials, and ensuring only authorized personnel or visitors are allowed entry. Maintain accurate records of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
- Patrol and Inspections: Conduct regular patrols, either on foot or using security vehicles, to inspect the premises for potential security risks or vulnerabilities. Monitor and report any signs of damage, unauthorized access, or safety hazards. Ensure all doors, windows, gates, and other entry points are properly secured.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fires, or security incidents. Follow established emergency procedures, provide assistance, and coordinate with relevant authorities if necessary.
- Crowd Control: Maintain order and control during events or situations that involve large crowds. Direct traffic, manage queues, and ensure the safety and well-being of individuals attending the event.
- Report Writing: Accurately document incidents, observations, and actions taken during your shift. Prepare detailed written reports, including incident reports, daily activity logs, and any other required documentation.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors, addressing their inquiries or concerns, and providing directions or information as needed. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Alarm Response: Respond to alarms and investigate the cause, taking appropriate action to address any potential threats or incidents. Coordinate with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
- Security Measures: Enforce security policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure compliance and maintain a secure environment. Conduct regular inspections of security equipment, such as CCTV cameras, access control systems, and alarms, to ensure they are functioning properly.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid security guard license or certification as required by local regulations.
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is often preferred.
- Knowledge of security practices, protocols, and procedures.
- Familiarity with surveillance systems, access control systems, and other security equipment.
- Excellent observation and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Basic computer skills for report writing and using security software.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
