The job of a plumber typically involves the following tasks:
- Installation of plumbing systems: Plumbers read and interpret blueprints and building plans to determine the layout and installation requirements for plumbing systems. They install pipes, fixtures, valves, and other plumbing components according to the design specifications.
- Pipefitting and welding: Plumbers measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to fit the layout of the building. They use various tools and techniques to join pipes together, including soldering, welding, or using mechanical fittings.
- Repair and maintenance: Plumbers diagnose and repair issues with plumbing systems, such as leaks, clogs, or damaged pipes. They use specialized tools and equipment to locate and fix the problem, and may also replace faulty components or fixtures.
- Fixture installation: Plumbers install and connect fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, bathtubs, faucets, and water heaters. They ensure proper functioning and adequate water flow to these fixtures.
